Food Forest volunteering

Since 2017, hundreds of volunteers have participated in planting and maintaining food forests across Sudbury. (You can learn more about the gardens, what was planted, and where they are here)

Some have a group of volunteers dedicated to maintenance. At others, Sudbury Shared Harvest takes a more active role in organizing regular workbees and training opportunities.

We are currently seeking volunteer food forest leaders for the Elm West, Chelmsford, Walden and Hanmer food forests. If you live in one of these areas, are active, outgoing, and eager to learn, please check out the volunteer description

Because the Delki Dozzi food forest is so much larger than the others, we host weekly workbees there throughout the growing season. In 2024, we are hostly monthly workbees at Lively, Hanmer, Chelmsford, and  Elm West Food Forests (on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Tuesdays respectively).  No experience needed - we'll work with you to get to know the plants and what is required!

Children and teens are very welcome too! (accompanied by an adult if under 16. And yes, we can sign the school form for volunteer hours!
